The themes of persevering faith and strong family ties speak in inspiration to today’s great societal needs. In another plot in the story, a teacher named Kevin Allen buys supplies out of his own pocket in order to help several of his students.

Another couple, Scott and Kathy Barnes, are friends who are on the streets too but soon a blessing comes their way and they are able to move to a motel while the Blackmons continue to live in their car. The children continue to go to school although the boy is stealing lunches in order to eat and the daughter is changing clothes with a friend. The plot centers around a man named Darius Blackmon who is living in his car along with his wife Josey and two children. This is a powerful movie which grippingly portrays the perseverance of the human spirit.
