This is a very dangerous place to be at because it makes us feel accomplished with out actually getting things that matter done. Oh, and lets draw a little hanger next to ‘do laundry’ and a little cup of water next to ‘drink water’ and lets do that for every mundane task I am supposed to be doing anyway. The more I research “bullet journal” the more videos I find of people going through their journal and how they made it “pretty” with mundane tasks – brush teeth, drink water, do dishes, clean living room, vacuum. I’ve been there and trust me, you will loose a few months/years nit picking on the right tools. But it’s really easy to believe that we are being predictive by spending more time organizing a journal/agenda we are not.

If you are actually getting things that you want to get done PLUS making your journal look pretty, huge props to you. I am just making people aware that being in that phase (where you are spending more time organizing and choosing the perfect notebook, pen, colors etc) is a very dangerous place to be at. I am not putting down people who spend time making their journal look great. I did not need the right pen or the right paper, I needed the right systems and the bullet journal is one of them with the way it can be used. It was not until I started to hang around people that actually got s**t done that I realized I just needed a pen/paper and most importantly taking action on it. I went through a phase where I really believed I needed the right tools (pens/notebook/planner/markers/etc) in order to be more productive that was really stupid. But I started using the bullet journal method to shy away from a “pretty agenda/planner”. I really enjoy seeing the artistic pages people share here I am a creative/artistic person myself. There seems to be an emphasis on making a journal “look pretty” and forgetting about the practical things one can do with them.
And while I enjoy seeing the creativity of people and what they do with their bullet journal, it seems that a lot of people are forgetting the actual purpose of having a bullet journal. If you are posting NSFW content or links, make sure to clearly designate them as such. It should therefore be assumed that all posts, links, and comments are safe for work. This subreddit is meant to be a community of people sharing posts and comments about their bullet journals.

Please use post flair to help us organize the subreddit and make it easier for users to find posts. This will be determined by looking at one or more accounts over sharing from a website. Over posting a specific blog/website without showing discernment about what fits in the sub is discouraged. A dedicated account is considered an account that only participates in this and other communities in order to share their blog and website. Self promotion from dedicated accounts is discouraged, and repetitive violation will result in a ban of the page. This is a community to support and encourage all users of this system, and we will not tolerate harassment, trolling, or deliberately vitriolic comments. All users doing all types of bullet journaling are welcome.
